Description
We are currently seeking an experienced SC Cleared Chemical safety consultant who will work with extant resource to deliver a number of critical strategic requirements.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
These requirements are;
- Progression of the requirements for the Chemistry Centre and HELIOS relocation programme
- To determine the most appropriate standardised approach to Chemical Safety for the client and the most appropriate future Safety & Training Structure that will ensure the standardised approach remains fit for purpose
- In the longer term, the performance improvements within the chemical safety requirement would be informed by the achievements of this short-term support.
Skills/Experience Required
Evidence of the following is required:
- Relevant experience of working with hazardous substances and a working knowledge of the COSHH regulations and of engineering controls for preventing exposure to hazardous substances.
- Ability to interpret statutory legislation and accepted best practice into standards for the organization and to advise and guide others on compliance with such standards;
- Knowledge of tools and techniques for identifying, understanding, quantifying and controlling hazards and risks;
- Ability to use information to make decisions;
- Ability to share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and other stakeholders and to engage with others to mutual benefit.
Formal Qualifications Required
- You must have a degree or equivalent in chemistry or a chemical science. You must also possess, as a minimum, an NVQ Level 3 qualification, such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
Evaluation Criteria
- Degree or equivalent in chemistry (or closely related subject)
- Recognised QCA Level 3 qualification in occupational safety or better
- Experience of working with hazardous substances
- Ability to provide advice on safe systems for working with hazardous substances
- Working knowledge of engineering controls for preventing or controlling exposure to hazardous substances.
