Basic Qualifications:
A 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (a bachelor of applied science degree will NOT be accepted) from an accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable foreign university. Scope of Responsibility/Expectation:
Actively participates in internal design meetings to plan design or design review activities. Works on a variety of design projects that constitute a larger portion of a project. Conducts complex analyses and documents results. Makes recommendations for improvements. Implements basic design improvements. Designs simple test experiments. Executes complex experiments designed by more senior engineers and documents results. Makes and implements recommendations to improve team performance and enhance product functionality. Develops positive relationships with other disciplines and functions involved in the design process. Develops an awareness of market trends and latest technology. Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems. Work may be reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy. Follows established processes and directions. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects or assignments. May provide guidance to non-exempt personnel. Builds productive working relationships internally and externally. Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters. Contributes to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives. Works on a variety of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Designs and analyzes products using Pro E Wildfire for cosmetic and functionality of all mechanical systems. This includes creating constraint drawings for PWB layout to allow internal component placement. Conducts all preliminary thermal and structural evaluation of the design using Flotherm and other analytical tools. Responsible for all tolerance analysis reports for DFM and design functionality. Follows a disciplined product development path through all phases of the product life cycle. Verifies all designs using Design Verification Testing (DVT), or analysis or simulation tools. Provides detailed drawings and bill of materials for all designs during the development process such that the product can be launched into production in a seamless and DFM friendly manner.
