Description
This position is intended to implement new database systems/upgrades on projects such as the business continuity/disaster recovery environment (BC/DR), Oracle Exadata (or other "big data" applicance), Oracle Primavera, Esri ArcGIS (v.10 and Roads and Highways), and Agile Assets. The position will also provide hands on database support for existing systems. In addition, this position will be required to assess database designs and perform developmental tasks for our ongoing database development efforts.
The consultant will:
- Manage all aspects of physical database administration including schema management; security, setup, installations, upgrades, patches, backup and recovery, space management, performance tuning and capacity planning for Oracle 10g and 11g
- Support application teams and their projects to enhance, troubleshoot and performance tune
- Support Oracle Databases in Production, Test and Development environments
- Install, upgrade, configure, test and deploy complex database software
- Develop and implement Database Recovery plans and procedure
- Analyze the performance of Databases and recommends tuning and application changes
- Implement user authentication and validate databases security protocols across systems
Required:
- The consultant will have a cell phone with email and text capability and be on-call as scheduled or needed
- Demonstrated project experience in implementing DR/BC database configurations
- 5+ Years hands on administrative experience with Oracle RDBMS versions 9i - 11gR2 on Solaris/Linux
- 5+ Years hands on experience in managing backup, recovery and HA scenarios for Oracle RDBMS 9i - 11gR2, including RAC and ASM, on Solaris/Linux.
- 5+ Years hands on development and tuning of databases in Oracle RDBMS 11g.
- 3+ Years hands on administrative experiencing with Esri ArcGIS ArcSDE databases using Oracle/Oracle Spatial
- Experience with Oracle OEM, and database monitoring tools
- Experience with Oracle DataGuard, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Streams, and Oracle GRID Control
- Strong SQL and UNIX Scripting skills
- Oracle Database Space Management & Capacity Planning
- Oracle RMAN Backup and Recovery techniques
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and management
- Demonstrate ability to generate entity relationship diagrams, create database documentation, data dictionaries, document system architecture, processes, procedures, and scripts
- B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline
Preferred:
- Oracle certification
- Oracle Exadata or "big data" appliance administration
- Oracle Primavera/P6 Analytics experience
- Oracle database replication and virtualization experience
- Experience with data model tools such as ER-Studio, Oracle Designer, etc.
- Experience with linear referencing databases
- Proficient in business requirements analysis, data modelling, logical and physical database design, data acquisition analysis and design, data access analysis and design
The Database team is composed of 5 database administrators/developers. The team supports over 200+ production databases. The team coordinates with client, server, network, and database/Datawarehouse personnel to support and develop the underlying IT architecture.
