Description

The American Museum of Natural History is seeking an HTML5 and CSS3 expert to migrate its Seminars on Science online course content from its existing eCollege platform into the Moodle platform.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The freelance vendor will migrate content from approximately 16 courses from eCollege to Moodle. The vendor will migrate these courses using Moodle templates (which have already been created), maintaining the Museum's high standards for HTML and CSS design and development. The project work will be conducted in three phases over one month (October 2012).

Please note: only vendors who are incorporated will be considered for the position. NYC metropolitan and Moodle expertise preferred.

Phase 1 – Overview

  • Review existing eCollege courses.
  • Review Photoshop mockups and Moodle templates to understand how the new courses should look.
  • Review folder structure (using Alfresco) to ensure that files are stored in the proper directory.

Phase 2 – Build Out

  • Migrate 12 core courses. Each course consists of between 60 and 100 pages, including a home page and six weekly units. These courses include: Ocean System; Water; Climate Change; Diversity of Fishes; Earth; Evolution; In the Field with Spiders; Link Between Dinosaurs and Birds; Solar System; Space, Time & Motion; Genetics, Genomics, Genethics; Sharks & Rays.
  • There may be 4 additional courses to be created. This will be determined by late September / early October. Additional courses will be similar to the 12 core courses.
  • AMNH staff will provide feedback after each course is migrated and the consultant will provide one round of revisions.

Phase 3 – Review and Test

  • Conduct quality assurance (cross-browser testing and link checking).
  • Identify and correct broken images, URLs, videos, bugs, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Migrate all content from existing online courses into new Moodle environment with an obsessive attention to detail.
  • Use the latest web standards and logical, elegant, well-structured code to import/migrate all existing content into Moodle.
  • Work alongside a small and efficient staff to deliver the templates in a timely manner.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:

Phase 1 – Overview

  • Materials made available to vendor: October 1, 2012
  • Vendor reviews material: October 1-3, 2012
  • Vendor consults with AMNH before build proceeds: October 4, 2012

Phase 2 – Buildout

  • Courses 1 - 6: October 5 - 11, 2012
  • Courses 7 - 12: October 12 - 18, 2012

Phase 3 – Review and Test

  • Cross-browser testing: October 19 - 31, 2012
  • Bug-reporting and correction: October 19 - 31, 2012
