Fantastic opportunity for an experienced EL1 Web Platform Manager to lead the web development team within a federal government department with an international profile. Initial 6 month non-ongoing position, with option to extend.

In this role, you will:

  • Build and manage a range of stakeholder relationships which will help guide the department and its business areas to produce quality user-focused online information and services for the department's web and Intranet presences.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards for the effective, accessible, consistent and useable delivery of online information and services
  • Manage the delivery of web-based products and other initiatives to meet the department's business needs, in liaison with internal business clients and service sections.
  • Provide ongoing advice on the implementation and management of hardware and software solutions.
  • Assist in managing financial and human resources, including the day-to-day activities of the web team.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Highly developed ability to make sound judgments and achieve outcomes in the design, implementation and management of Australian Government websites.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in understanding and implementing best practice web publishing standards, including AGIMO, W3C and WCAG guidelines, and demonstrable knowledge of information architecture and user-centred design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey technical advice on architecture, standards and emerging technical issues to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the delivery of user-friendly web-based solutions. Extensive knowledge and/or tertiary qualifications in web technologies including strong HTML and CSS skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, manage financial and other resources effectively, work in a small team, take initiatives and set priorities. Ability to respond to challenges and adapt to different work environments.
  • Highly persuasive oral and written communication skills, including effectiveness in negotiation, liaison and consultation. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to cultivate productive working relationships.
