Mechanical Design Engineer
12 Month Contract
Up to 40.00 per hr Ltd
Cheltenham

An industry leading aerospace company client require a contract Mechanical Design Engineer to join on a 12 month basis.

Key Responsibilities

"Support production of Aerospace Power products.
"Interpret written requirements and specifications.
"Detail assembly drawing set in NX.
"Define wire harnesses in NX.
"To ensure the mechanical design follows correct processes.
"Assist project management report status and progress to agreed plans.
"Design for cost, quality and schedule.
"Understanding and application of mechanical engineering principles.
"Practical testing and experimentation.
"Ability to provide a design solution when faced with conflicting project requirements.

Knowledge and Background:

"In depth knowledge of electronic packaging for aerospace or similar applications.
"Skilled in taking a design from initial concept through to being production ready.
"Ability to interpret, design and verify against requirements.
"Estimating own work to assist with accurate project planning and costing.
"Understanding in the use of current manufacturing processes and materials.
"Knowledge in the creation of tolerance analysis.
"Background in concurrent engineering with other disciplines and designing for manufacture.

Skills and Competencies

"Proficient in the use of Siemens NX6 modelling and detailing in conjunction with Teamcenter.
"Knowledge of Geometric Tolerances, limits and fits with the ability to implement their use effectively.
"Fully conversant with relevant drawing conventions. BS888
"Competent in the use of MS Office 2010 suite of software and Adobe Acrobat Standard for document mark-up and edits.
"As well as technical excellence, candidates must operate successfully team environment.
"Must be hands-on, flexible and practical.
"Willing to extend work hours to suit project demand.
"Must be able to work with minimal supervision, but effectively communicate progress.
