Lucene and Solr - Search Specialist
I am working with a large company, whom specialize in marketing and selling reports, books and subscriptions. They boast 2.5 million online product sales. You may be coming from a technical Business Analyst or Systems Analyst position. However, your title is less important then your actual experience. They seek a candidate with experience of both Lucene and Solr, and from an E-commerce background. You will be able to understand the search technology and translate it to the business. This company, based in Dublin 8, have a public website, a large Intranet and a number of systems focused on generating lists of emails for their marketing team. Lucene is the industry standard search technology and they also use SOLR which is a flavour of Lucene. Their teams work a lot with SOLR, which is a Java web application for building Lucene indexes and performing searches using them. (Version 1.4 has been deployed onto several Linux Servers to support searches on public and Intranet sites. Configuration has been standardized across the different searches, and performance upgrades have been run.) They have upgraded the development Servers and later production Servers to the most recent stable version of SOLR, improving the results returned on the Intranet. Training documentation has been drawn up following the setting up of a new SOLR server and performing maintenance using Confluence. This company can facilitate an immediate start. However, they are happy to accommodate a notice period where necessary. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast growth company. Open to both daily rate and pro rata salary candidates.
