Scientific Software Specialist - LIMS

Duties and responsibilities

The major responsibilities for this position include:

• Develop LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software
  • inventory control/management
  • QC data trending
  • resource tracking
  • assay protocol tracking
  • sample tracking
  • instrument data management
• Automate data analysis pipeline, especially for copy number application
• Develop website to generate reports (visual & tables) on the fly based on LIMS data

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualities:

• high levels of energy, initiative, confidence
• flexibility and adaptability as new challenges come up

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 4-year Bachelor of Science degree & 1-2 years of experience in a fast paced environment, preferably in a biotech or high-tech company
• Experience with web development for life science industry and community building through social media

Skills and Capabilities:

The candidate must have great command of:

• Java
• C++ / C#.Net
• Microsoft SQL Server database
• web development skills
• Strong programming skills in
  • One of R, S, Splus, SpotFire or Matlab
  • Perl or Python
• Unix (Linux) and Windows platforms

Additional skills are also highly desirable:

• Experience in analysis of microarray data, especially with SNP genotyping and copy number analysis
• Background in molecular biology and/or bioinformatics
• detailed oriented and methodical
• excellent prioritizing and organizational skills
• must write efficient code that's easy to maintain
