On behalf of our client, a prestigious international Telecommunications company, the Manning Global Group is currently looking for a Senior Voice Engineer/ Senior Voice Numbering Engineer on contract basis in the UK.

OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE

The scope of the role is to work in a significantly independent way to provide customer build (and Network configuration support) for Voice and IP customers on CS2k/TDM (System X / DMS100) platforms and architecture. Support principle engineers and to lead by example for engineers in terms of standards and operating procedure; acting a coach to engineers within the team. Then provide during UK office hours technical and process support for associated fault resolution capabilities within in the 24 Hour x 365 Day Assure Operations Organisation. Having direct responsibilities for the performance and integrity of all products and services managed by the VCP team meeting specific internal and customer defined SLA targets. This role has requires flexibility to allow for Assure On Call and Provide build activities Out of Hours.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Avoid ‘Self Inflicted’ wounds if in any doubts refer to Principle Engineer.
• Validate and implement customer projects in agreement with Principle Engineer; verification and quality control for build, configuration, datafill acceptance into VCP team
• Work on own initiative, taking responsibility and ownership of issues as they arise and seeing them through to a successful conclusion.
• Work with 3rd Party when appropriate and demonstrate ‘best practise’ methodologies
• Complete and organise routine maintenance within team
• Engage with Voice Engineering to ensure all appropriate documentation of standards for datafill is approved for use by Voice Operations
• Team working, ensuring all team members receive appropriate information regarding specific fixes regarding customer sites.
• Problem solving, leading the team and liaison with back office function on inter group issues.
• Utilising all technical skills and relationships to achieve successful resolution of complex faults issues and drive the clearance of hardware faults
• To clear “soft” faults and drive the clearance of hardware faults

WORKLOAD PLANNING (Decision Making Authority)

• Technical ‘Sign Off’ authority for any new product or service that will be delivered by the team.
• When dealing with faults technical support and prioritisation of any escalations within team remit.
• When working on the clients projects show judgement to the degree to which decisions are a function of established precedents and best business practices, to avoid over delivery on one project at the expense of other commitments.
• Monitor achievement and performance on the project delivery and take effective action to highlight to line management issues and risks.
• Sign off SAS/COM CPS tasks as orders are completed


PROCESS (Problem Solving Responsibility)

• Assist in definition of department standard processes and procedures are followed and maintained to attain/retain quality standards.
• Utilising the available tools and resources encourage an environment for the tackling of issues by correct logical assessment of the problem which involves both the identification and analysis of multiple factors or variables.
• As needed, set up virtual/working teams, manage their outcome, which may be across technical and operational boundaries.
• Demonstrate a degree of creativity, applied innovation and expertise required to obtain business results by the application of expertise and experience.
• Understand the complexity of the problem by the depth and breadth and interconnectedness of issues to be evaluated in the overall product set.
• Liaison with Internal and External agencies in the pursuance managing escalations.
• Act as the key interface to customers for those areas of responsibility covered by the department. This includes network customers & end users, Customer account, service and product management teams.
• Provide feedback to line management and into Project teams


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Skills and Experience)

Essential
• Very strong technical knowledge of the CS2k IP switch platform and System X and Nortel DMS 100 both in hardware and data fill
• Knowledge covering IP Trunking, IP CTX, DASS, Q.931, DPNSS, CAS, C7
• Demonstrate initiative when faced with technical challenges
• Demonstrate ability to solve complex technical queries.
• Strong communication skills
• Minimum 5 years of telecoms experience.
• Accredited formal manufacturers training course on relevant platforms.
• Knowledge of PABX networks
• Working knowledge of Transmission and Data/IP networks


Desirable
• Knowledge of the clients systems i.e. SAS/COMS – CPS Clarify or Remedy
• In depth knowledge of current clients core network technology (Voice & IP).
• Understanding of client business processes.
• ITIL qualified
• Ability to show how to influence and lead colleagues
• Good telecoms knowledge of the European PSTN networks
• Understand of Carrier Voice networks


Qualifications
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in Communications or IP technologies
• Demonstrate practical experience knowledge gained through working in a similar role.
• Must have a background in digital voice switching systems, with knowledge of System X and Nortel DMS100 & CS2K routing data structure
