The Center for American Progress is looking for a web designer to help with occasional design work on a number of projects. We’re looking for an experienced, professional web designer with a knack for modern, semantic, responsive, standards-based design. He or she should be able to create and refine site designs that not only look great, but adapt to a wide range of platforms, devices, and screen sizes.
This designer would potentially assist us at various phases of the design process, including:
creating overall concepts for site designs;working up designs for interior pages;helping refine existing website or page designs;adapting designs for tablet or mobile phone presentation; orcreating html email designs to compliment website products
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years professional web design and coding experience.Expert knowledge of hand-coded HTML5 and CSS3, including responsive layouts and web typography.Demonstrated understanding of standards-based coding, browser compatibility issues, graceful degradation in older browsers, and web constraints.Strong experience with WordPress and WP theme developmentExperience and knowledge of mobile CSS and coding for mobile devices.A portfolio of high-quality work
Not Required, but Highly Desirable:
Knowledge of Version Control Systems (Git)Experience with jQuery;Experience with news design;Knowledge of other various design/production software;Commitment to organization’s mission and goals.
