Radiation Protection Adviser with a good track record of working on nuclear decommissioning, non nuclear radiological projects and radioactive waste management projects. The clients Radiological Service Team specialises in radiation protection advice to our nuclear and non nuclear clientsThis also includes the characterisation of radioactive waste, waste management, and environmental sampling programmes. RPS has a broad range of complimentary skills which enables comprehensive and expert advice to be provided to a wide client base.

The posts offer excellent opportunity for development, and, if not already holding certification, working towards accreditation as Radiation Protection Adviser and/or Radioactive Waste Advisor.

Key Responsibilities are likely to include:

·Providing radiological advice in compliance with IRR99

·Providing advice on radioactive waste characterisation and management under EPR10

·Designing, undertaking and managing radioactive waste characterisation programmes

·Designing, undertaking and managing radioactivity surveys

·Undertaking BAT/BPEO/BPM and optioneering studies associated with radioactive waste management

·Supporting environmental auditing and assessments of nuclear and industrial sites

·Preparing Environmental Permits and supporting information associated with radioactive waste

·Bid/proposal writing

The role will be primarily working on UK projects but there may be overseas projects for appropriately experienced candidates.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:-

Educated to degree level in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology or other science related discipline

Ideally MSc or PhD qualified in either: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Radiation Protection Geology, Waste Management, or related subjects

Be a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional and/or hold a RPA Certificate of Competence

Excellent level of literacy and communication skills and the ability to prepare clear professional (technical) reports.

Have an excellent knowledge of radiation protection and radioactive waste characterisation and management
Knowledgeable and experienced in Environmental Permitting Regulations relating to radioactive substances
