Primary Function of Position:

The Senior System Test Engineer is responsible for all Engineering Development testing of both systems and surgical instruments. The primary function of this position is defining and developing automation tests that enhance test efficiency. The secondary function is to execute the test (manual and automatic) to ensure product releases are ready for human use.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design effort for automation test strategies to increase test efficiency
  • Develop automation tests scripts in Python or similar scripting language.
  • Contribute to project content and overall test plan oversight, including definition of test coverage requirements, test plan generation, approval, execution, and archival of results
  • Analyze test data, identify non-conformance trends, generate concise executive summaries, and recommend design improvements
  • Contribute to the strategy for reliability assessment and verification of robotic surgical systems and instruments
  • Actively participate in all aspects of Design Control and provide technical support for regulatory audits
Qualifications
In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position, the individual must have:
  • BS in engineering sciences or equivalent, or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in testing complex electro-mechanical systems with embedded software and firmware, or equivalent
  • Strong SW programming background, with multi-threaded codebase experience preferred
  • Experience with scripting language, preferably Python for generation of automated tests
  • Strong ability to interact at the low level hardware/software interface layer
  • Must work very well in a collaborative, fast paced environment, and thrive under pressure.
  • Troubleshooting mind set - an ability to systematically and effectively break down a system or process into subparts to identify failure mechanism.
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing.


Additional competencies or experience we would like to see:
  • Experience testing hardware devices, especially in mechanical or robotic systems
  • Experience in medical device verification and validation, and requirements for regulatory approval
  • An in-depth knowledge of failure mode root cause analysis and standard statistical techniques
