Deliverables/Outputs to be achieved:

The outputs are to maintain BAU deliverables, in particular:
*Ensure month end processes and timelines are followed and all material accruals undertaken
*Prepare the management accounts for the respective cost centres
*Ensure the year outturn forecasts are agreed and updated with budget managers
*Complete budgets process for
*Set up new reporting files for as required

Essential:

Knowledge and Experience
*Extensive experience of budget management in a decentralised environment.
*Experience of working and delivering to tight defined timescales.
*Significant experience of effectively using Microsoft Excel functions.
*IT literate to a high level.

Analytical Thinking
*Experience of gleaning operational issues and translating the impact into quantified risks, opportunities and financial forecasts.

Budgets
*Proven ability to analyse variances of actual overhead spend to budget.

Communication
*Ability to explain complex financial issues to non financial managers verbally and in writing.
*Experience of successfully utilising flexible working practices, interfacing effectively with team members based at various locations, with contact frequently by e-mail and telephone rather than face to face.

Planning and Organisation
*Significant experience of prioritising and completing work within scope and to agreed deadlines.
*Proven ability to effectively manage competing demands.

Stakeholder Management
*Experience of navigating within large organizational structures and used to working with senior professionals eg in medicine, IT or other specialist fields.
*Proven ability of proactively engaging and managing a broad range of stakeholders.

Technical Specialism
*Experience of producing annual budgets and forecasts to a required standard.
*Extensive experience of preparing, developing and analysing management accounting information.

Teamwork
*Proven ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues.
*A supportive and reliable team player.

Desirable
*Knowledge of working practices and financial procedures in the NHS.
*Knowledge of IT development, infrastructure or service management.
*Responsibility for financial reporting to senior managers and other stakeholders.
