Title: Java/JavaScript Web Application Developer
Type: Contract- 6 months
Location: Atlanta, GA 30339

Our client is seeking a Web Application Developer for a 6 month contract position in the Atlanta area. The Web App Developer position calls for the ability to be creative, innovative, and work well independently and as a team player while providing enhancement and bug fixes to an existing set of applications. The Web Application Developer should have strong knowledge in software architecture and design and have experience working in a web group that develops high-volume applications. Experience with Java, JSP, JSTL and JavaScript is required. This job requires organization, professionalism and the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with architects and designers in the development and initiation of new software applications.
  • Design, develop, implement and enhance functionality, increase performance and simplify maintenance.
  • Design and implement solutions collaboratively to add value to software development efforts in the most cost efficient way.
  • Communicate designs to other team members in order for them to implement the design.
  • Maintain/update current code base using Java, JSP, XML and JavaScript.
  • Estimate production time of new development, site changes and bug fixes, communicate estimates to reporting manager.
  • Quickly detect and debug problems and provide rapid solutions to solve problems.
  • Lead projects, mentor and review other developers work to ensure that reusability and consistency is maintained.
  • Participate in team code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards and development guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or equivalent work experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience developing with Java, JavaScript and Object Oriented JavaScript
  • Strong knowledge of Web Application MVC architecture and Servlet/JSP programming
  • Knowledge accessing MySQL via JDBC.
  • Knowledge of Tomcat technologies and tools such as Ant.
  • 7+ years of experience with Web Development technologies such as JAVA, JSTL, JSP and XML
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of at least one structured programming language.
  • Experience with technology and development cycles employing test driven development and source control
  • Experience working on projects using an Agile software development methodology.
  • 7+ years of experience with Object Oriented Design and Development. Must have strong understanding of Object Oriented principles and be able to apply them to real-world problems.
  • Experience interfacing to frameworks such as Hibernate, Struts, Spring and JQuery with Java and Javascript.
  • Strong Database skills preferred; indexes, normalization, stored procedures, views, entity-relationships
  • Experience working with Linux and Apache web server platforms preferred.
