Description

Working closely with design Engineers to take full responsibility for the design of exhaust gas heat exchangers for use in diesel engine applications.

Liaise with project external customers on the design and layout of engine mounted safety equipment.

Supporting Engineers in various disciplines working within the project team.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Work with commercial team to understand client's requirements and initiate proposal drawings of the equipment to be built.
2.To establish specification and concept design of new exhaust gas heat exchangers and associated components from technical sales schemes, to meet current standards of safety, reliability and performance to include calculations for heat rejection to both cooler and radiator specifications.
3.Liaise with customer to reach a point of technical sign-off on scope of supply.
4.To supply technical supervision of CAD Draughtsman/Production Engineer on detail drawings, including checking and approval.
5.To create final specification and generate Parts List for new designs, and input directly into computerised MRP System. Maintain certification data files.
6.To supply project engineering support, on-site support for customer testing including factory acceptance testing.
7.To supply Technical Sales support at pre and post order stage, creating Scheme Layout drawing and basic costing data for quotations to include direct liaison with customer and after sales support.
8.To ensure that throughout project all design records, test results, performance specifications are prepared and filed in the Technical File.
9.The ability to manage multiple projects and regulate workload.
10.Requires being computer-literate, with experience of manufacturing resource planning an advantage and Windows XP.
11.To maintain a professional, disciplined and commercial approach to the position.
12.To comply with the Company's Health & Safety requirements policy.
13.To comply with any reasonable requests from the Engineering Manager.

TRAINING
Training will be provided on an as required basis.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
1.Relevant industrial experience and qualifications in mechanical or diesel engine design disciplines would be an advantage.
2.Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, other educational routes and disciplines will be considered. A solid base understanding of Thermodynamics is required.
3.Proven broad-minded approach to the job driving "thinking outside the box" and Continuous Improvement.
4.Awareness of ATEX Directive would be an advantage.
