Responsibilities
  • Manages Systems Engineering of the network provisioning applications for the Company's Ethernet and IP/VPN Networks and Services.
  • Generates high-level requirements and detailed, design-level requirements for Network Inventory, Network Provisioning and Network Configuration and Activation applications.
  • Works in close partnership with the Network/Labs teams, the Network Care team and the System Development and System Test teams.
  • Develops architectures, the definition of the structures of an IT solution to a business problem.
SKILLS

This position requires detailed technical understanding of the Layer 2 & Layer 3 Networking Technologies, Enterprise Data services and the Network Operations procedures for these services and networks. In addition to the typical Systems Engineer skills (ie, strong analysis of business needs, user requirements, documentation skills, communication and negotiation skills), this position requires following specific skills and experience: (1) in-depth understanding and experience with IP technology and protocols, such as QOS, MPLS, and with industry leading vendor operating systems Cisco IOS, IOS-XR and Juniper Junos; (2) IP Network operations and care processes, (3) IP Network based Enterprise Services, and (4) detailed requirements for leading edge operations systems. Must have experience with VPNs. The candidate must be proficient at the techniques that go into the formulation of architectures, including requirements discovery and analysis, application of abstraction, formulation of solution context, solution alternatives identification and assessment, technology selection, and architectural configuration. This requires practical skills and experience with many application and infrastructure (operational) products, technologies, and services. The candidate must also be proficient in the use of modelling techniques, such as use case, scenario modelling, prototyping, benchmarking, and performance modelling to describe the problem space, to size the solution and to validate that the proposed architecture addresses the business requirements. Good teaming and interaction skills are also essential.
