Software Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Tests and validates the performance and functionality of a device to tune, transcode, copy, and/or stream audio and video content from a cable RF feed to multiple clients.
• Coordinates, develops, and implements test plans/procedures to verify functional requirements.
• Configures test environment and executes regression tests on product.
• Coordinates test activities with other engineers and other sites.
• Documents defects found and provides feedback to developers and other team members.

SKILLS
Must have BSEE or equivalent with 4+ years experience. Experience with test methodology is required. Must understand principles of data communications, video, and CATV, and also have a solid understanding of TCP/IP and networking protocols used in multicast video transmission/streaming over IP network (HLS). Must understand video technologies such as formats, bit-rates, encoding, compression, and streaming, as well as an understanding of MPEG2/4 transport streams, and.mp4 files and cable transmission standards and testing. Knowledge of Linux and Windows-based operating systems is needed. Knowledge of Microsoft tools (ie Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, etc.) is essential. Must have solid skills in troubleshooting and Test Equipment.

Knowledge of

Mobile App development is a plus; experience with Python Scripting a plus.

Good verbal and written communication skills are critical.

Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
