Responsible for the development and support of two in-house Credit Risk

business applications.  This role offers the successful candidate the

opportunity to learn about the vast variety of financial products within

Capital Markets and Banking.

In addition to sound technical abilities, the successful candidate must

demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and strong awareness of

development and change management processes. A desire to gain a deep

understanding of the business environment and a strong work ethic are also

essential.

Job Background/context:

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to work in Belfast for one of

the world's largest Financial institutions in the development of a Global

Credit Risk Application.

This role involves many aspects of the software development life cycle,

analysis, design and development of projects for a strategic application

. The application provides the Global Credit Risk groups with the

ability to monitor and support their business activities. Candidates should

be prepared to provide of out-of-hours support on a rotational basis.

The team is responsible for new projects (regulatory, business initiated or

tech mandated) and amendments to the existing application, as defined by our

customers.

The application:

Credit Engine - is a global credit monitoring system reporting Pre

Settlement Exposure (PSE), Pre Settlement Loan Equivalent (PSLE), Settlement

Risk (SR), Expected Positive Exposure (EPE) and Direct and Contingent risk

to Risk Management users on an end-of-day basis.

Credit Engine is based on an Unix platform, running Sybase databases with

most of the components written in Perl, Unix Shell Scripts, T-SQL/Stored

Procedure development.

Key Responsibilities:

*           Provide technical oversight across systems and

applications;

leverage skills across team and department.

*           Partner with Support team to develop strategy regarding

overall architecture and infrastructure.

*           Demonstrate drive and initiative; be goal-oriented,

dedicated

and self-sufficient.

*           Be able to work well under pressure, adapt quickly to

changing

priorities and maintain focus on key tasks during busy periods.

*           Provide effective client communication during regular

updates

or escalate when appropriate.

*           Continue to develop further knowledge sharing

opportunities.

*           Utilizing technical skills to provide solutions for

projects

assigned within the Credit Risk business.

*           Work as a member of the Credit Risk team on multi-developer

projects.

*           Work alongside other developers in London and New York, and

the Credit Risk Support team in Belfast.

*           Perform overnight and weekend callout support as part of

the

weekly rota;

*           Adherence to entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

*           Liaising with the Business Analysts and other business

groups.

Programming

UNIX (inc Scripting/utilities, csh/ksh or similar) or other Scripting language [required]

SQL/T-SQL (Stored Procedures) [required]

Perl [required]

SQR [beneficial]

Databases

Sybase (or an industry standard database equivalent eg SQL Server, Oracle) [distinct advantage]

Qualifications:

Excellent academic record.

3rd level qualification is essential.

Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be

considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
