Description
There is currently the need for a Chemical Process Technician who will participate in all of the steps associated with processing superconducting radio frequency cavities. This includes but is not limited to: electropolishing, ultrasonic degreasing, high pressure rinsing, clean room assembly and vacuum leak testing.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the candidate will be the operation and maintenance of a custom made electropolishing tool and associated support equipment.
Other responsibilities include:
Handle chemicals required to perform electropolishing.
Operate and maintain tools specifically designed for chemical processing.
Operate and maintain chemical scrubber and neutralization system.
Prepare and assemble components in class 10/100 clean room.
Perform ultrasonic degreasing and high pressure rinsing.
Record process data.

Ability and willingness to provide 100% compliance with stringent personnel, equipment and environmental safety policies and procedures
General awareness of aspects of chemical processing that allow for fast corrective actions to be taken when necessary
Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for the operations of a chemical facility
Detail oriented with ability to follow written procedures exactly
Good mechanical skills with ability to work on delicate equipment
Good communication skills
Experience with acid handling or handling of hazardous materials
General electrical capability to allow troubleshooting
Clean room assembly experience
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Basic computer skills including familiarity with MS Office and CAD
Ability to work well on a team
Associates or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field desired but not required.
SKILLS
Chemical background; someone who has handled radioactive materials, acute toxins, concentrated acid, engineering controls
