Seeking a Software Packager with testing experience and good Oracle databases and SQL experience. As part of an IT software development and support team Embedded in a scientific research environment, the successful candidate will support Electronic Laboratory Notebook, chemistry drawing tools, digital signature, Adobe software and other scientific informatics applications. The incumbent will troubleshoot client support issues, debug software, perform application testing, install client upgrades and set up user accounts. Work with desktop software engineers to test installation packages and with project teams to deploy scientific software. Author and update support documentation and training materials for multiple applications.

The ideal candidate possesses both scientific and IT experience with excellent written and verbal skills in order to facilitate communication with both scientific clients and IT professionals. Technical writing skills considered a plus. Proactive interaction with scientists to help improve their productivity is highly encouraged.

Responsibilities
  • Provides day-to-day support of multiple applications for scientific clients.
  • Installs client software packages for software upgrades or to resolve issues.
  • Interfaces with multiple levels of IT support teams such as global support teams, corporate IT, and Help Desk to coordinate tasks and drive outcome.
  • Coordinates/performs basic testing of software through the help of offshore testing team.
  • Updates and creates support documentation and training material for clients, internal, and help desk use.
SKILLS

Must have experience resolving problems with PC hardware and software, as well as experience with and knowledge of Citrix and Oracle databases. SQL server is a plus. BA or BS in science degree (preferably chemistry or biochemistry) along with computer or information systems or equivalent work experience is required. Must have 2+ years of experience working in scientific laboratory setting; 2+ years of experience with the following technologies: Microsoft.NET, Java application, Oracle SQL; and 2+ years experience with Windows operating system & desktop support. Ability to work independently and efficiently in an interrupt-driven, multi-tasking environment in order to meet deadlines and address client support issues needed. Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and organized with excellent communication skills.
