We are seeking a part-time Software Quality Assurance consultant to work with the engineering team to test software products including medical device firmware, a database driven web application, and windows applications. Will also be responsible for assuring process compliance.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Perform testing of embedded medical device software.
- Perform manual/automated web application testing.
- Perform black/white box testing, regression testing.
- Participates in cross functional meetings for new product development, manufacturing and/or GxP projects as appropriate. Assures that all activities are completed and meet requirements including but exclusive to: project plans, test plans/reports, requirements documents, risk assessments, traceability matrices and verification/validation summary reports.
- Assist in the development of software requirements, test plans or key documents, as required.
- Participate in the risk assessment and risk management process.
- Performs independent review in code/system reviews and design reviews.
- Partner with the software development team to assist them in producing quality software for customers.
- Review and recommend improvements to existing documentation in order to ensure that all requirements and specifications are testable.
- Create test plans and test cases and execute in accordance with defined procedures.
- Participate in defect tracking.
- Automate regression test wherever possible.
- Automate testing of a graphical user interface wherever possible.
- Provide concise reports on testing and defect resolution progress.

Qualifications:

- Tomcat web server and MySQL database including setting them up on Linux.
- Working and debugging with configuration files.
- Working with Linux and MySQL scripts to parse test/XML files and import/export data.
- Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of software test processes, and multiple product lifecycles.
- Current experience in testing embedded, real-time applications, hardware/software interfacing and design issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Medical software experience preferred.
- Ability to apply configuration management systems, bug tracking and change control follow through.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and to meet established timeframes.
- Ability to maintain updated knowledge of procedures, products and activities of assigned area.
- Ability to coordinate the work of others.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- BSCS or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of software testing experience.
