Financial & Regulatory Account Senior Manager - Retail Banking - Qualified Accountant - London - £600/day
Job Purpose
Our client, a leading UK retail bank require the services of a Financial and Regulatory Account Senior Manager.
The purpose of this role is to:
- Provide financial competencies to the Unit/Cluster finance area.
- Deal with ad hoc services, complex queries or analysis, where expertise is required.
- Managing a team of 3-4
- SME in Basel II, BIPRU, Basel III and CRDIV
- Be the subject matter expert in finance topics, and provide a detailed understanding of a specific complex financial subject such as balance sheet, income, costs and provisions.
Specific Areas of Focus
Basel 2
- Responsible for the UKRB, Europe and Basel 2 BAU reporting process; ensuring monthly, quarterly timetable is adhered to and all deliverables meet expected standards (ie completeness and accuracy of UKRB, Europe contributions to Group FSA returns)
- Working closely with Risk to understand models used, and challenge/review inputs and outputs etc; and interpretation of resu
- Responsible to preparing and delivering clear communication of results/issues to executive and providing assurance to Finance Director as to the accuracy and completeness of results
- Be actively involved in Basel 2 control & governance framework
- Design and implement Lean process improvements
- Be involved in change control process within Retail Business Banking
- Coordinate all communication regarding Basel 2 process between the Consolidation team and UKRB, Europe and Barclaycard
- Responsible for Financial Regulatory Reporting for UKRB, Europe (including submissions through RACE webforms for FSA reporting); build and maintain monitoring and control framework around Fin Reg returns
- Develop understanding of and control framework for other regulatory reporting for UKRB, Europe
- Management and review from a financial control perspective of Treasury Liquidity reporting monthly outputs
- Deal with ad hoc technical queries
- Stakeholder relationship management (eg Business Performance, Finance Service Centre, Group Finance & Risk & GRB)
- SOX compliance (UKRB only)
- Assistance in the Statutory Notes to the accounts process
Basel 3/CoRep/CRDIV
- Ensure that the Basel 3/CoRep/CRDIV requirements are rolled out in accordance with the Steering Committee guidance for UKRB, Europe
- Coordinate communication regarding Basel 3/CoRep/CRDIV between the project team and UKRB, Europe
Management and development of direct report
- Workflow management
- Work with direct report to establish goals and objectives for Performance Development; conduct quarterly reviews of performance against plans and provide feedback
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to team members; ensure appropriate training plans are developed and executed for all team members
- Oversee recruiting, interviewing, selection and hiring processes (as required, and support FC team in this)
Senior Financial Controller Accountants are expected to have an in-depth knowledge of consolidation systems, SAP and others, which are complex and where the make-up and origin of consolidated data is not easy to track. They will be responsible for correcting errors and misstatements, providing input to projects, analysing change requests, and providing change impact analysis across the Unit/Cluster.

Knowledge and Expertise Essential
- Detailed knowledge of the market and the latest thinking and developments in finance. This is absolutely crucial in this role as the jobholder is a recognised expert in the field of financial accounting.
- Thorough and up to date understanding of financial accountancy
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience of financial accounting within a Financial Services environment.
- The jobholder must have substantial directly relevant experience in a technical financial environment.
- Accountancy qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
