One of my clients, a highly reputable telecommunications company is seeking a Senior Unix Adminstrator to join their team on a 6 month contract.There's is a competitive daily rate on offer for the ideal candidate and if successful you would be working within a team of 5 Unix administrators.
Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to;
- Installing, upgrading and configure Operating systems over Servers (Solaris, HP-UX, Windows & SUSE Linux )
- Monitor local file systems (space and file sharing permissions) with automated shell scripts
- Manage Users ( groups,Individual accounts and passwd ).
- Maintain system security (monitor system logins and implement securities)
- Specialized server administration (NFS, DNS,DHCP, NIS, LDAP Configuration, Administration & Trouble shooting.)
- Perform system file backups and restores (Backup Scheduling, Verification and Restoration)
Technical skills;
- 5+ Yrs Unix (Sun Solaris, Shell Scripting, AIX)
- Experience with clustering in UNIX environments.
- Virtualization integrating systems with network storage and SAN
- Strong communication skills are also important
