IT Developer - 6 month rolling contract opportunity working for a government operated utility company.

Your role:

Your role will be to develop, modify and test complex program and system logic and analyse performance within the constraints of a system plan. You will need to support existing applications as well as the deployment of software into a test/production environment within the constraints of a change control plan.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of the software environment, operational guidelines and standard procedures of the companies information systems.
  • Efficient application design and development to ensure Business and Operational Service Levels are met.
  • Performance analysis and Application reviews to ensure that IT. resources are used efficiently and have the capacity to meet current and future Business requirements.
  • Mentor and provide support to other developers in best practices for application design, programming, and testing.

To be successful for this role, you will have the following skills:

  • Must have strong hands on commercial experience with the following:
    • VB6
    • VB .NET 2005
    • MS Access
    • VBA
    • SQL
    • Java
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of security standards such as WS Security, Digital Certificates, SSL etc
  • Knowledge and understand of infrastructure design.
  • Substantial experience in design documentation.
  • Technical lead experience
  • Preferred/desirable- project management methodologies
  • Preferred/desirable- Proficiency with Enterprise Architect and Visio highly
  • Experience in the following technologies is preferable/desirable:
    • Oracle
    • ITIL
    • C#
