Computer Futures are looking for a Senior Operations Engineer for one of our key clients based in Andover / Winchester. We have a strong relationship with this client and they are ready to interview immediately. In addition to the technical knowledge and experience required, applicants will possess well developed interpersonal skills, a professional telephone manner and work well under pressure. Applicants will have good organisational and time management skills and work effectively as part of a team.Your daily responsibilities would be the following:
1. Infrastructure & Operational Support
Resolve incidents reported to the IT Service Desk;
Raising, assessing impact and implementing change requests (RFCs); ensuring
change control process is adhered to;
Active Directory (AD) & Server Management; managing hardware utilisation, monitoring data growth, implementing automatic alerts and reacting promptly to alarms; production of statistic reports & analysis of trends, etc.;
Ensuring computer room environment is managed effectively;
Ensuring remote sites are regularly monitored; managing telephone system
servers; creating & maintaining quality management system documentation;
Organising routine maintenance of the corporate infrastructure.
2. New Technologies & Project work
Researching, testing and trialling new technologies; designing and deploying proof of concepts.
Provide expert technical advice and guidance on projects to enhance infrastructure and line of business applications and maintaining the Council's licensing liabilities.
3. Virtualisation Architecture Management
Responsible for the management & maintenance of the corporate virtualisation environment which delivers all services to the Council IT users.
4. Security Management (McAfee)
Responsible for the effective configuration and deployment of the corporate Anti-Virus solution to servers & desktops; the GCSx Code of Connection (AD work); remote access (VASCO) support. Advises the IT senior management of any potential security threats.
5. Storage Area Network (SAN) management
Responsible for the design, configuration, monitoring, management and maintenance of the corporate data storage functions.
6. Disaster Recovery, High Availability & Test Environment Architecture
Responsible for the effective design, deployment and management of the technical elements of the IT Business Continuity Plan.
7. Network Support
Provides backup to the Networks manager in supporting the corporate network. Provides support for the infrastructure monitoring environment using What's Up Gold (WUG).
The starting salary is starting at £27,000 and increasing to £30,000 with an excellent benefits package. Please respond to me with your current CV if this role suites your skill set.
