As a member of the Regional BRCM (Business Risk & Control Management) Team this role assists with the implementation of the risk and control strategy as set out by the Global Risk Function BRCMs.

The RCA is a comprehensive review of the risk and key controls within the area under review. Controls need to be classified, assessed for effectiveness and any monitoring identified. If remedial action is required to improve the control environment this needs to be captured. The residual risk exposure on both a typical and extreme manifestation needs to be captured.

The RCA Manager who will be tasked with working with the functional areas across all geographies within the region to improve existing RCAs and where necessary, create new ones. This will require extensive liaison with teams where English is not the primary language to the ability to clearly communicate is paramount. Furthermore, as there are already assessments in place, a degree of tact and diplomacy will be required to explain the need for further improvements.

Major Challenges

  • Implementing process based RCAs and control assurance test plans based upon standard risk and control libraries as provided by Global Risk Function BRCMs
  • Building the relationships and influencing the key customers and stakeholders

Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications

  • Extensive experience of leading risk and control assessments
  • Experience of Matrix management across complex environments
  • Ability to influence Senior Leaders across multiple business lines
  • Ability to drive Operational Risk within the 1st of defence and obtain appropriate management buy in
