Description
The Corporate Affairs Manager has overall responsibility for leading engagement across state-based political stakeholders. A key role will be to build strong and enduring relationships with stakeholders that advance the client's commercial objectives and enhance their brand and reputation.
Key responsibilities:
- State Govt Relations -influence policy and political outcomes, including by building and maintaining key state government relationships.
- State based stakeholders - develop and leverage relationships with key third party stakeholders and influencers consistent with the client's commercial and public policy objectives.
- State based internal stakeholders - work with and provide advice to the client's state/territory directors of business units on matters related to stakeholders, government relations, media and public affairs. Leverage relevant state/territory-based hospitality and sponsorship opportunities, including providing advice to other business units as necessary.
- Issues management - responsible for managing issues such as cable cuts, mobile sites, natural disasters and state/territory govt policy matters plus provide input on the state/territory implications in the development and implementation of national announcements.
- CEO & GMD visits - develop itinerary and project manage - host visits to states/territories in conjunction with Executive Services and other business units.
- Federal Government Relations - assist in liaising with Federal MPs at local level on campaigns and other issues of national relevance.
The Successful Candidate will have:
- Significant demonstrated experience in a similar, large, complex and issues rich environment
- Demonstrated experience in managing the political process and influencing government
- A demonstrated track record in handling difficult media/crises/issues situations with political stakeholders;
- Proven ability to prepare, write and edit announcements, correspondence, submissions and speeches;
- Appreciation and understanding of internal complexities within large national organisations and a proven ability to build relationships and get the best out of people at all levels;
- Significant experience operating and advising at executive senior level;
- Demonstrated verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise and negotiate with senior management, and other stakeholders;
- Collaborative work style;
Tertiary qualifications preferred.
