The Client
Our client is a well-reputed ASX100 listed company with a track record of investing heavily in emerging technologies - leading the way amongst its competition and delivering best-in-class services to its customers. They have one of the largest technical footprints in Australia - combining a dynamic range of technologies in an ultimately complex landscape.
The Team
The team is comprised of some of Australian's most gifted architects, developers, and data scientists. Working as a single unit, they're tasked with building out a greenfield analytics platform, utilizing technologies such as Hadoop, MongoDB, Hbase, MapReduce, Python, Java and functional languages (Scala, Haskell, Erlang) to build the next iteration of their big data function.
The Role
The role requires a strong developer, ideally with a functional programming background to assist and contribute to the design of the platform. You will be implementing algorithms and other functionality into the environment. You'll ideally have experience with distributed systems and be comfortable with platforms such as Hadoop. You must be passionate about new emerging technology and stay current with regard to your technical skills - ya gotta keep it fresh ya dig?
Requirements
- Strong functional programming background; Scala (ideally), Haskell, or Erlang
- Distributed Systems Knowledge - Hadoop/MapReduce ideally
- Strong software engineering background - Java or other OO languages
- Databases experience - structured (SQL-based) or unstructured (NoSQL)108353
