We run a popular website called raywenderlich.com (1.7+ million pageviews/month) that focuses on high quality tutorials and books.
We are looking to hire an experienced iOS UI/UX designer to work with us on an upcoming book on iOS 7. The book will be teaching iOS developers how to update their apps to iOS 7 and use all the new APIs.
As you know if you followed the WWDC keynote yesterday, a huge aspect of iOS 7 is the new flat design aspect. Because of that, we are looking to team up with an experienced designer on this book. Ideally you’d write a few chapters on flat design, design the sample apps that we develop as part of the book, and design the book cover.
There are lots of good reasons to contribute to this book, but here are the top three:
1) Exposure. Based on our past book sales, this book is going to be really popular, and one of the first released on iOS 7. Since you will be the sole designer covering a hot topic you’ll get amazing exposure to a huge audience of iOS developers and designers. This is great stuff for speaking at conferences, and will likely lead to a lot of freelance work as well.
2) Learning. The saying goes if you really want to become an expert at something, write about it - and that is very true. In addition, you’d get to work with a lot of great developers with the latest and greatest teach in iOS 7 and get hands-on experience designing iOS 7 apps - before it’s even released!
3) Profit. This is a paid job as well - please send your bids! Again, you'd be designing about 15 very small sample apps, writing a chapter or two, and designing the book cover.
Requirements:
- We Are Looking for the Best. If you are still a beginner or intermediate designer, please do not apply.
- No Agencies. We are looking for independent freelance designers only.
- iOS Experience. You must be an experienced iOS UI / UX developer with several apps that you worked on in your portfolio, a member of the iOS developer program, and familiar with the HIG (and the new HIG).
- Flat Design Experience. You must have experience with flat design demonstrated in your portfolio.
- Writing Experience. You must be an excellent writer and communicator, with a published article we can review.
