Objective/Background:

You will join the Capacity Management team at this international bank. The team ensures that the capacity of the IT infrastructure (current and future) matches the evolving demands of the bank in the most cost effective and timely manner.

The Capacity Management process covers the following areas: capacity planning, demand management, capacity operations, capacity and performance engineering, capacity management infrastructure.

Tasks:

- Participate in technical architecture reviews and testing to determine the most-appropriate scalable model, taking into consideration performance, availability, disaster recovery and costs.
- Participate in technical discussions to incorporate performance features at design, development and test stages.
- Develop capacity models.
- Gather business, services and platforms data as well as forecasts, and incorporates them into capacity models.
- Help to establish realistic IT budgets for the IT infrastructure, and develop cost-benefit analysis and cost estimates.
- Develop (part of) the performance and capacity reports (eg. capacity planning).
- Perform detailed analysis of a specific IT service, component or platform.
- You are responsible for the base-lining (ie. define metrics and baseline; analyse deviations), thresholds alerting and workload characterization.
- Perform performance testing (project) and reviews capacity and performance reports (production). When the test results/reports highlight an issue, you explore the issue and determine whether action is required. You provide the detailed data and recommendation needed to go forward.
- Design and develop Capacity Management Infrastructure (CMI) components for the gathering, computing and reporting of indicators and trends. You assist the CMI Owner in the evolution of the Infrastructure as needed.

Essential Skills:

- Expert in Windows and UNIX systems (hardware, operating system, databases, Middleware).
- You have a good knowledge of the systems virtualization (VMWARE ESX, AIX P series).
- You have experience in performance analysis on these systems.
- You are familiar with the capacity management process.
- You are team oriented, willing to share knowledge with your colleagues and with a Continuous Improvement mindset.

Nice to have skills:  
- SAS programming.
- Ideally you will have work experience in the Banking sector.
