Senior HR Manager - Banking

THE ROLE
* The role of HR is undergoing a fundamental shift, as the bank drives a globally aligned model across all its functions.
* Organisational capability, performance and talent management are under close market scrutiny.
* Added value in HR is beginning to be defined both in terms of functional expertise in specialist areas, and the ability to strategically shape human capital business performance.
* Whilst traditional in-depth functional experience is still valued, competitive strategic perspectives and experience gained from broader roles or consultancy are becoming increasingly important.
* The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and limited guidance in addition to influencing and driving the Global Function's People strategy via a global network of HR Generalists
* The role is required to regularly interface with very Senior levels of the banks Management including an Executive Directors, Group General Managers and a large number of Exco/Board members.

PURPOSE
* Provide a first class HR generalist service to relevant Global Function (s) on a global basis through close partnering with the Senior Leaders/Exco of the business as well as through the Global HR network.
* Drive relevant Global Change programmes and the strategic people agenda, thinking 'HR function first' and aligning to the strategic direction set by the Head of HR, Global Functions and HTS as well as Group HR and ensure high levels of operational excellence for HR activity demonstrating continual improvement
* Operate as the 'conscience' of the business and live the banks values, bringing them to life for others in a way which builds understanding and ownership across the banks businesses and preserves its reputation
* Support and embed change in order to realise improved performance delivery at a local level and provide coaching and feedback to colleagues in as way that supports effective behavioural change
* Support Group wide transformations for example, Operational Effectiveness.

Essential Experience/Knowledge:
* Functional Expertise - Broad HR generalist experience gained across a variety of businesses.
* Corporate Exposure - Extensive HR experience within fast-moving, complex and demanding corporate environments where HR issues have to be handled on a large scale, and with a need to multi-task/deal with ambiguity and change.
* Operating in global markets - Experience of working at an operational level in international environments which drives a true international perspective. Commercial experience in different markets/cultures/organisations.
* Team Leadership - Experience of having led global projects/initiatives with a virtual team of HR professionals, raising standards within the function and improving the profile of HR within a business.
* Managing Change - Experience of managing significant transformation and change programmes across dispersed entities, winning buy-in at the top and driving it against resistance in a global and matrixed environment. Working with senior teams on restructuring and re-engineering.
* Commercial Awareness - Demonstrate up to date knowledge of the external environment, the competitive landscape and broad macro-economic trends.
* Interpersonal Skills - Influential, credible and persuasive, active listener, embraces the banks Values, shows good judgement and demonstrating excellent communication skills in order to achieve excellent stakeholder management.

Desirable Experience/Knowledge:
* Consultancy Exposure - Experience of, or exposure to, leading consultancies that set stretch benchmarks.
* Financial Management - Experience of managing departmental finances, major supplier negotiations and contracts.
* Process and Technology - Experience of delivering HR solutions through the design and application of process and technology. Defining and using relevant and competitive HR metrics.
* Functional Expertise -Depth of experience in at least one HR specialism.
* Exposure to Corporate Governance - Experience of diverse regulatory frameworks in large multi-nationals.
