Description

Network Team Leader:
  • Manage a team of Information Engineering PTEs that are handling daily maintenance and/or projects, working under general direction from the HUB Computer Systems manager.
  • Provide technical lead on projects and ensure that we have the best solutions in place.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of high impact system performance problems.
  • Perform regular routine analysis of system performance, to monitor for potential bottlenecks.
  • Provide focal point for systems related troubleshooting; develop process & procedure for further investigations.
  • Identify key service metrics applicable to the area of responsibility and monitor them regularly ensuring that expected service levels are met.
  • Provide technical documentation, to assist other sites with problem resolution and provide a standard for future deployments.
  • Act as mentor in all team projects, to develop the team and encourage individual growth. Assist with implementation of individuals SCMi Training and Development plans.
  • Lead peer reviews of all project plans.
  • Monitor workload, in particular InTouch issues, and ensure that issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with user community ensuring that their requirements are understood and communicated with the team and that adequate resources are available to address their needs, and ensure good two way communication between the support team and the end user.
  • Coordinate activities with the GS-IT Engineering team ensuring that the solutions they provide are viable options for the production environment.
  • Coordinate activities with various vendors and other SLB entities, acting as a representative of WesternGeco.
  • Take a leadership role in QHSE issues, ensure that team's requirements are met, and assist with issues. Ensure that correct RIR procedures are followed as required.


Network administration:
  • Participate in design and development of cluster system upgrades
  • Contribute as design authority for network components
  • Provide network engineering and support for customer activities (Omega cluster design and Installation)
  • Provide technology leadership (Tech-Watch, Eureka Community, White Paper Development, Technical Presentation) in the network engineering disciplines
  • Conduct, research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of connectivity strategies and training
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on bids, proposals and projects
  • Negotiate with vendors, and contractors to obtain quotes for network related products
  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments and configure wireless networking
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking specific to High performance Computing
  • Maintain Network Infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, Layer3/Layer2 Networking, and Security)
  • Help with Configure and setup Firewalls (rules) as per SLB eNet Standards
  • Assist in the configuration of Ether Channel (Bonding)
