Job Title: CNC Operator/Programmer

Job Description:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must have general knowledge to operate lathe, mill, or grinder.
  • Using Unigraphics, from a solid model, write programs, set up sheets for use on CNC machines. Lathes, grinders, mills and 5 axis mills.
  • Initiates run, observe for proper functioning.
  • Advises Supervisor of problems or need for tooling.
  • Assists in training of employees in CNC procedures and operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Utilizes proper safety and housekeeping techniques.
  • Offers suggestions on methods to improve efficiency or quality of product.
  • Other duties may be required to be performed.
  • Assists in training of other employees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Education:

  • High School Degree or GED. Basic shop math skills required; post high school or technical studies in related areas (CNC programming, machinist apprenticeship, etc.) preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ year's progressive experience in CNC machining environment performing operation/setup and simple programming.

Special Skills:

  • Must be able to write CNC programs using Unigraphics NX7; able to calculate speeds and feeds (SFPM, RPM) and apply these to material being cut
