Structural/Stress Engineer required to work on assignment providing specific SME oversight, leadership and management support across Structural and Stress Engineering. The successful candidate will be a Team player but will also have the ability to work on their own initiative. Candidates will have experience of maintaining Structural integrity of components and full scale systems from initial concepts through design and developments to Certification and In-Service use and update. The role also requires the practical experience of applying that knowledge and experience and offering suggestions and direction to the programme, other specialist engineers and to the customer.

Typical activities include:
Supporting all Company projects as an SME on Structural Integrity to the level of advising and making recommendations on Design Certification, Structural Approval and Clearances to the Head of Structural Integrity.
Mentoring and developing junior Staff, including identifying appropriate training.
Identification of customer requirements with specific or implied structural integrity elements and ensuring that these aspects are addressed throughout the design, material selection, testing and in-service use.
Identifying and mitigation of Programme Structural risks in accordance with the Risk Management Plan.

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Working in a multi disciplined engineering team to provide sound structural integrity plans, procedures and reports to support and execute major projects.
Preparing and delivering high quality presentations, including presentations at design reviews.
Mechanical engineering background with extensive experience of the analysis of parts and assemblies. Competent in stress analysis using conventional and finite element techniques.
Experienced and proficient in managing and performing structural assessment.
Competent in the use of Patran & Nastran or Strand7 FEA package.
Demonstrable skills in the generation of stress related data, including load case derivation, trial analysis and the compilation of a Structural Design Record.
Ability to represent the organization as a prime technical contact on projects; and to interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters.
Sound knowledge of defence systems development, design, manufacturing, trials and the CADMID life cycle.
Ability to prepare reports for design reviews or customer requirements using standard MS Office applications.
Ability to use computer based tools to both manipulate and to generate data such as loads and stiffness values for strength calculations.
Ability to prepare and present analysis models and results for progress meetings or design reviews.
Working knowledge of relevant Defence Standards including Def Stan 07-85.
Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Candidates must be willing to undergo a security vetting proceedure.
