Job Description
As a mobile developer, you'll be responsible for creating and expanding our native mobile apps for Stack Exchange and Careers 2.0. You should be experienced in either iOS and Android app development, coupled with basic design and UI / UX skills.

We’re looking to hire the best people wherever they are in the world. If you’re able to relocate to our office in New York, you’ll enjoy a brand new office with some amazing amenities. If not, we expect you to be awesome at working from home, and to be available to sync up with the team a few times each week during the afternoon (Eastern time).

Skills & Requirements

We expect to see:
  • Top-notch programming skills and a track record of getting stuff done
  • Significant experience developing native iOS (Objective-C) or Android (Java) apps
  • User interface and user experience design skills; ability to design apps that are easy to use and understand, and convert user stories into slick user experiences
  • Solid enough design skills to be trusted with user-facing visual appearance (good choice of fonts, colors, alignment, etc)
  • Proven telecommuting skills: self-motivating, self-directing, and aggressively communicative (if working remotely)

  • We like to see:
  • An active Stack Overflow and Careers 2.0 profile
  • Open source code you're proud of
  • Deep knowledge of how Stack Exchange works from our blog and podcasts

  • About Stack Exchange
Our goal is to make the Internet a better place to get expert answers to your questions. We’ve done a lot of that with Stack Overflow, but we think there’s still more to do.

We believe in hiring smart people and getting out of their way. We have an office in New York with some of the best amenities of any New York startup, and we have people who work remotely all over the world. We keep meetings and ceremony to an absolute minimum.

Stack Exchange, Inc. does not discriminate in employment matters on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any other protected class. We support workplace diversity.
