GIS Developer

This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9th, 2013.

This is a 6 month contract opportunity.

Our client is looking for a GIS Developer.

In this GIS Developer role, the person will be responsible for development of GIS solutions. This includes designing and writing of code; configuration; and implementation of off-the-shelf software. Most development will be within the ESRI and Microsoft development framework for GIS and non-GIS functional components.

This person will work on a couple of projects over the course of the contract duration. One project is focused on the integration of a web GIS application and the other is a spatial data initiative with a focus on ArcObjects. There is a possibility that this contract could be extended and focus on additional projects.

Some of the responsibilities of this person could include the following:

• Provides input to the System Analyst on the technical solution
• Provision of estimates to be used in development of the project schedule
• Assisting with the construction of systems by providing programming skills
• Performing detailed design, codes classes and other modules
• Provide weekly updates to specific people regarding effort and work completed
• Conducts peer reviews
• Execute unit tests
• Code version management
• Adherence to the client's best practices with regard to application development and transition to a production environment
• Working with QA team members as part of unit and system testing

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, Geography or related study or equivalent experience
• 8+ years development related experience
• Prior experience working as a application developer delivering multi-tier web GIS solutions
• Experience working within a formal project management framework as part of the client solution development life cycle
• Experience working within the ESRI COTS approach to GIS solution development
• Knowledge and experience with the ESRI application development framework for ArcGIS Server 9x/10x, ArcSDE 9x/10x and ArcObjects
• Experience with C#.Net, ASP.NET, CSS, AJAX, JaveScript, JetBrains Resharper
• Application development experience using Microsoft Visual Studio , NetAdvantage's Infragistics, Oracle PL/SQL, Toad
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft IIS server configuration setting for Web applications
• Some experience with Report development using Business Objects
• Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently in a very busy, varied, and diverse environment with changing priorities
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• A high degree of initiative and self-motivation
• The ability to manage multiple, concurrent requests
• A high attention to detail while producing quality work in a timely manner
