Windows 7 Technical Specialist - Applications Packaging
Our Client
One of the largest state Government agencies require a Windows 7 Technical Specialist to come on board for an initial 6 month contract.
Job Description
• Develop application packages for the current Windows XP and Windows 7 (64-bit) SOE.
• Provide expert advice on application configuration, use and administration within a managed SOE to align solutions with client expectations.
• Quality Assurance: Review user acceptance test plans. Ensure packaged applications meet the agreed standards and are fit for release. Perform or escalate troubleshooting activities to diagnose User Acceptance issues.
• Analyse and monitor packaging activities.
o Applicable License Keys, Source media / patches etc.
o Step by Step instructions.
o Package for upgrades.
o Testing procedures and peer reviews.
Selection Criteria
• Extensive knowledge of application packaging for automated deployment and administration on a 64-bit windows 7 SOE
• Demonstrated ability to use and follow packaging standards, processes and controls
• Strong knowledge of the design, structure and operation of a Microsoft managed end user environment. In particular: Windows 7 OS, Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, Windows servers.
• Knowledge and experience with:
o Desktop administrative practices and tool kits - such as MS SCCM
o MS Migration tool kits - Windows XP to Windows 7
o Transition and remediation of Windows XP era applications
o Desktop Application Virtualisation
• Proven ability and knowledge of application packaging and testing methods
• Strong knowledge and computer literacy with productivity tools such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
• Demonstrated self-organisational, time management and prioritising skills.
• Proven capacity to develop and maintain sound working relationships with End Users, key stakeholders, suppliers and within the project team.
