Description

We are a small, rather new LA-based nonprofit called VFT: Veterans in Film & Television (vftla.org) that, thanks to tremendous first year growth and support, will be launching a new website / online community for military and veterans working in the entertainment industry.

We hired a larger web design/dev firm to create a new website for us but now seek to hire an individual/freelancer to assume guidance and, ideally, be our go-to person / webmaster for many years to come.

You must work remotely, we do not have an office nor are we able to hire someone for this full time at this point.

The job would start out on an hourly basis - we would discuss with you the things we want to do, you would estimate how long it will take to complete the task and, if agreeable, we would authorize/pay you to proceed. There may times in which we have a lot of work for you and others where we have none, so it is ok for you to have other clients/jobs so long as you are relatively available to us.

In short, our website is two things:
  • 1) A basic, informational site for our nonprofit
  • 2) A online directory of hundreds to thousands of profiles - profiles of veterans working in the entertainment industry - that is responsive with filters so that Hollywood and/or the public can easily find and contact veterans to hire for their film/tv-related projects.

  • You may view a static version of the new site here: https://projects.invisionapp.com/share/ESDQKHT3

The site was designed in Drupal 7.21, is VPS hosted, up and running (mostly to our liking), and only in need of a few tweaks at this point. We have some larger features we'd like to add as well but would want to work with you first on smaller items to ensure the relationship is right for everyone.

We seek someone that is, for the most part, a total solution 'webmaster' for us. Someone that posses a Drupal back end expertise but also is competent with front end so that they are able address, completely, a majority of our (basic) requests without telling us that we need to hire other people to complete a given task. If we request something outlandish, we understand that you cannot be expert in everything, but would expect that you know enough to be able to work with us to find/hire the right add'l person for the task.

We are not extremely savvy with CMS (Drupal in our case) and need someone we can trust, someone that will shoot us straight, give us honest time estimates for tasks and follow through on them without having to be reminded.

We have a friend that is a first-rate web developer that advises us occasionally, he recommends that we only consider applicants that have built at least two or sites in Drupal 7 from the ground up. If this is not the case for you, please explain.

To submit, please send an email (subject: Drupal Developer Submission) that follows no more or less than the following format:
  • Explain in 1 paragraph your experience and why you are perfect for this job.
  • Explain your hourly rate, your pricing, or how you would charge us.
  • Provide links to at least two (2) sites you have built as well as a short explanation.
  • Provide at least three (3) references, ideally previous clients.
  • Resume
