My client is a major player in the financial industry with offices world-wide. They are looking to take on an eager and passionate level 2 Windows and Linux System engineer. You will be joining a multi-region team of 10 and you will report into two Senior Linux, Microsoft and Virtualisation engineers. It is a fantastic place to work with a very high staff retention record, as they ensure all employees are happy and satisfied in their positions. This Windows and Linux engineer will be joining a real team environment.
You will have a unique opportunity to work in-house on multiple projects, in a multi-vendor environment. You will get exposure to all of these technologies, and as a result you will gain well rounded experience across the infrastructure as a whole.
Their technological environment includes (but is not limited to):
- Linux and Microsoft
- Virtualisation: VMware, Citrix, other Cloud vendors
- Storage & Back-up: SAN, Commvault, Hitachi, Symantec, etc.
- Intelligent networks
Windows and Linux system engineer responsibilities:
- First 3-6 months: You will get to grips with their extensive technology stack and also get comfortable with the day to day processes and procedures.
- 3-6 months plus: You will be assigned projects to work on either alone or as part of a team. At any one time my client has 10+ projects for this Windows and Linux Engineer to work on.
Requirements:
- A relevant degree and impressive grades and or achievements
- 3+ years business experience
- Solid Linux and Windows knowledge (50/50 split)
- Solid Networking experience (CCNA an advantage)- including fundamental networking technologies and operations at layer 2 & 3.
- VMware experience- build and maintain VMware server clusters
Advantageous:
- Fundamental Storage technologies (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, etc.)
- Citrix experience
- Financial industry experience
