Location: Plano, TX
Position Type: 9 Month Contract
We have an IMMEDIATE NEED for an Optical Network Engineer experienced in Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET) and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). This is a 9 month contract position (potential to extend) with a preference for Dallas, TX candidates. However, the work is able to be done remotely from anywhere so qualified individuals located throughout the US will also be considered.
REQUIRED:
1. Minimum 2 to 3 years experience with optical networking SONET/DWDM technologies.
2. Lab experience testing SONET/DWDM equipment manufactures.
3. Migrating transport circuits such as DS1, DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48, FE, GigE, etc.
4. Experience with light meters, test sets and infrastructure to include T-Bird 310 and JDSU 8000 test sets.
5. Experience working with NOC, GNOC and TNOC operation centers.
6. Understanding line coding and framing of DS1, DS3, and fiber links.
7. Hands on experience with the full life cycle of migrating circuits from an existing SONET platforms to a new DWDM platforms.
EDUCATION:
4 year degree in Telecommunications or Computer Science is highly desired!
CERTIFICATION:
Cisco Optical Specialist certification is highly desired!
