Unix Engineer - Sydney CBD
12 month fixed term contract

Our client is a leader in the financial market. This role will require for you to work Global Vendor partners and report to the Head of Program Delivery & Program Delivery - Enterprise Technology Division
They are seeking candidates with a wealth of previous experiences in building and supporting enterprise class installations.
The following attributes are considered essential:
- Previous experience in a UNIX engineering and design capacity
- Minimum 7 years' experience working with UNIX
- In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting, capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Thorough understanding of storage technologies
- Ability to work flexible hours in order to accommodate a global server fleet, including evenings and weekends
The following attributes would be highly desirable:
- Customer facing experience as a technical consultant
- Red Hat, Solaris and/or Symantec certification
- Level 3 UNIX Operations experience in a large enterprise
- Designed and built clustered solutions using VERITAS Cluster Server
- Strong experience with VERITAS Volume Manager or other volume management technology
- Played a significant role in the roll out of a large engineering project
- Designed and managed a UNIX Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
- Solid experience with automation tools (eg Puppet, CFEngine)
- Experience with EMC-based storage technology (eg VMAX, VNX, symapi, navicli)
- Previous experience in large-scale storage migrations
