Overview:

The main purpose of this role is to provide operational support for our Global Network Services with responsibility to include installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within the organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience working on the associated technologies, including; LAN, WAN WLAN Management, Firewall & Proxy, Internet Access & Filtering, IDS/IPS, UC, UCCM, Video, Meeting Place, LoadBalancer, WAE, APC & Raritan KVM.

Work with telecom service providers and local office staff to resolve issues. Monitor, maintain and update network management tools. Monitors and maintains global network security tools.

Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position:

  • Interact with client users  in a professional, efficient and service-oriented manner
  • Provide service requests from Level 1 functions for network & communications incidents
  • Initiate investigate and repair activities for network and communications equipment
  • Investigate and repair activities for network and communications incidents until cause is identified and remediated and or repair actions by another party are instigated/predefined time limit, determined and defined based on incident priority has elapsed
  • Escalate non-repaired incidents to Level 3 immediately upon the expiration of any predefined time limits for investigatory and repair activities, as determined by management and defined based on incident priority.
  • Maintain, install upgrades, configure and fine-tune LAN networks operating software
  • Manage, control and operate all data communication devices and software in the telecommunications network
  • Take reasonable and appropriate action designed to prevent unauthorized access to the network
  • To demonstrate excellent customer service at all times. All calls are measured and used as part of an on-going call quality process
  • Provides senior level support for the day-to-day support, upgrade path, monitoring and on-going maintenance of Networks
  • Working closely with management and colleagues to ensure that all phases of support, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, and configuration issues are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, resolved and managed under change management processes
  • Maintains Security and Compliance of IT network systems including implementation and execution of  security tasks
  • Accountable for day-to-day progress against agreed deadlines, towards business objectives.
  • Works on specific projects under direction from management and in conjunction with TechnologyStrategy
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, assistance and development to colleagues on cross training and technical development of staff
  • May be required to travel to other sites domestically and internationally
  • Must be quality orientated and ensure all work streams are aligned with company and IT compliance standard
  • Work cross-functionally as a key contributor to the overall success of a global dynamic IT function to effectively guide projects from concept to deployment.  Manage the planning, development, design, validation and implementation of assigned projects, including scope, work breakdown, schedules, budget and delivery

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Overall 3-5 years general Networking experience
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Checkpoint, PIX(Cisco certifications highly desired)
  • Good understanding of GBP, OSPF
  • Good understanding of Layer 2 & 3 Vlan
  • Good understanding of WCS & Wireless Access Points (WAP)
  • Specific knowledge/experience with Cisco 6509s, 4500s, CSM, FWSM, SSLM, IDS & IPS
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with Cisco UC, Call Manager & Meeting Place
  • Experience with Sniffer, Solarwinds, MRTG, Cacti
  • Prior Experience in working & interacting in a professional engineering environment (internal & external)
  • Load-balancer
  • Strong Customer facing skills
