Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear, Power Plant, Engineering)

Our client, a leading nuclear company is urgently seeking an Mechanical Engineer. This is an initial 4-6 month contract opportunity with possible extension, to be based in Gloucester.

The key purpose of the role is to provide support to the Head of Mechanical Engineering in the provision of expert engineering services to the company with responsibility for all technological aspects of the nuclear new build mechanical design. The post holder will carry out a range of mechanical engineering assessments and reviews in support of the design of the new nuclear builds.

Responsibilities:
*Act as a dedicated Mechanical Engineer within the company's Engineering Directorate
*Support the Head of Mechanical Engineering on a range of issues
*Work with suppliers and the regulators to ensure licensing and permitting requirements are met.
*Review documents supplied by the company and other suppliers.
*Provide support to the GDA process to ensure the UK adaptation requirements are met.
*Provide support to the licensing and permitting process for the new builds.
*Provide support to the Site Development Directorate in relation to works at site.
*Assist in the development of local procedures and working arrangements for the mechanical engineering discipline.

Skills Set:
*A relevant engineering qualification, chartered engineer status and knowledge and understanding across a broad range of nuclear power plant engineering issues.
*Previous experience in the design/layout and maintenance of nuclear/conventional systems and components including balance of plant.
*Previous experience within the sector and knowledge of international nuclear/conventional power plant codes and standards.
*Demonstrable knowledge and understanding across a broad range of power plant mechanical engineering issues.
*Experience in complex engineering and design projects.
*Project management and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
*Able to provide guidance and support to other members of the team.

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo BPSS Clearance prior to commencement.
