Contract Term

This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30th, 2013.

This is a full time opportunity. Our client will also consider a 3 to 6 month contract - perm situation as well.

Overview

Reporting to the Infrastructure and Operations Lead, the Infrastructure and Operations Analyst is primarily responsible for:

  • Leading and assisting in the design and building of technical solutions,
  • Assisting in the management of the daily execution of support, operations, and administrative services, and
  • Participating in business driven projects, representing the infrastructure aspect of those solutions. This role is also to provide assistance and backup coverage to the Infrastructure and Operations Lead, in managing all aspects of the overall infrastructure. As A&T, we own and execute business analysis, design, work definition, implementation, and work inspection/quality review. Our goal is to find and manage strategic partner vendors to provide the majority of ongoing support for our technology solutions, and assist in project execution.
Role and Responsibilities

  • Participate in infrastructure projects, assisting in the gathering and interpretation of business requirements, and creating fit for purpose technical solutions. Then following the solution from design into test, implement, operationalize, train, and support
  • Assist in managing key vendors, who will provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for critical infrastructure solutions (this includes reviewing and managing vendor contracts, creating statements of work, reviewing POs and invoices, and doing work inspection/quality assurance)
  • Assist in defining, updating, and maintaining annual work plans and budgeting (including invoice management
  • and coding, and cost reporting)
  • Act as backup and provide coverage to Infrastructure and Operations Lead
  • Manage and assist other A&T staff providing end user support, to assure effective service delivery
  • Key contact for change and incident management
  • Utilizing automated desktop management, software distribution, and support tools, to support multiple, diverse locations
  • Assist in maintaining current IT infrastructure related documentation and service sheets
  • Responsible for driving the monitoring and reporting of infrastructure performance and capacity to promote the improvement of the critical computing systems
  • Execute continuous improvement focused projects to optimize the infrastructure and support environments.
Current Technologies

  • Key vendors: DELL, HP, KACE, VMWARE, A10, BlueCoat, Fortigate, Shortel, IBM, NetApp, EMC, Aerohive, MS
  • The majority of the current infrastructure is virtualized (VMWARE, Netapp, VLANs, VMWARE View, Data Domain, disk backups only)
Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize work on a daily basis, in order to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Proven focus and track record of delivering results in a fast paced environment and a desire to continually deliver results for the business
  • 7 to 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting various infrastructure environments
  • 7 to 10 years proven experience supporting infrastructure and related projects in an Oil and Gas company
  • Experience with VMware virtualization technology is preferred (ie VMWARE VSphere 5.x and VM View 5.x)
  • Experience with network based storage solutions, specifically NetApp, NFS, and various NAS technologies
  • Experience with supporting VOIP and IP phones would be an asset but not required
  • Experience in working at a field location providing day to day support and assisting in project execution
  • Experience creating, managing and reporting on project and annual technology budgets
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Emphasis on Visio diagrams and concise MS Word documents
  • Dedicated and driven work ethic; proven resource that looks for things to fix before they break.
