Open Bar is looking for an experienced web developer to join our staff. We are a small interactive design firm with a friendly, laid-back and dog-friendly office environment. We move quickly, release often and are dedicated to the success of our clients.
The Web Developer is responsible for the development of web applications, components, and interfaces. The position requires both front-end and back-end development experience. The ability to multitask, pay attention to detail (every pixel counts), and use solid communication skills is a must in our fast-paced environment. This new-hire would work on a team consisting of a designer, design director, and project manager to carry out projects, and report in to the Director of Operations. Additionally, he or she must be a self-starter who is organized and willing to build their own processes and manage their time efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Design, code, test, and implement websites and applications
- Develop and support websites using Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress
- Develop and support websites that integrate with social media
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues surrounding performance, response times, capacity and system limitations.
- Create and modify technical documentation.
- Maintain and update web applications and ensure data quality, integrity and consistency.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, technology resources, and external vendors.
- Interact with clients at meetings and pitches to serve as technical expert on the subject matter.
- Continually expand understanding of technology solutions in order to provide current and relevant advice to the business.
Requirements:
- HTML5/CSS3 (backwards compatibility to IE8)
- Experience with Responsive Development
- Script experience such as JavaScript/AJAX/Jquery
- Database experience with mySQL
- Thorough knowledge of CMS platforms: Drupal, Joomla and WordPress are a must.
- Experience building custom modules.
- Experience with PHP.
- Experience in development operations and admin including: server setup and maintenance, setting up staging environments, setting up production environments, code repository creation and manipulation (i.e. SVN), deployment.
- Excellent at reading and writing technical documentation including solid understanding of what is technically viable in order to make appropriate functionality recommendations to the design team.
- Experience with social media integration (Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc.).
- SEO best practices and experience with Google Analytics.
- Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills are a must.
- Clear communication skills required.
Preferred skills:
- Computer Science degree strongly preferred (Associate or higher).
- Agency experience.
- Experience with eCommerce (stand-alone solutions, homemade, or plugins).
- Active on social coding platforms such as GitHub or Drupal.org.
- Design background is a plus.
