Computer Futures are currently looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to work for a client in thePortsmouth/Farehamarea.

The key skills and responsibilities are listed below:

Strong, demonstrable in depth knowledge and 3rd Line technical skills, experience and/or relevant qualifications implementing, administering and supporting the following (or equivalent): Windows Server 2003/8/12 - MCSE/MCSA / VMware Vsphere 4/5 - VCP / Exchange Server 2010 and TMG 2010 / Sql Server 2005/8/12 / IIS 6/7 / SCOM/SCCM / Windows XP/7/8 / Symantec Backup and VEEAM / / Dell Server/SAN hardware / LAN/WAN/VLAN support - Dell Force 10 and PowerConnect Switches / Aruba Wi-Fi / SonicWall Firewall / Lightspeed web proxy / Siemens analogue and VoIP Telephony Systems
  • To ensure the efficient installation, configuration, administration, proactive monitoring and maintenance of both hardware and software for all Server, Network and Telephony related systems. All works to be done following ITIL guidelines

  • To provide 3rd line administration, monitoring and support to the 1st/2nd line team covering 1000-node Desktop/MAC and Laptop estate.

  • To lead in OS and software management and deployment automation.

  • To contribute towards the smooth operation of the Support Desk Facility. To manage assigned incidents within the Service Desk incident queue system through to resolution.

  • To identify and implement potential improvements to existing systems, 3rd line support services and processes.

  • To implement change management processes in line with industry standards (ITIL)

  • To provide specialist software support (configuration & maintenance) for all applications in use across the College

  • To assist in the management of appropriate IT Systems backups and disaster recovery/business continuity services

  • To liaise and manage 3rd parties as required to provision or maintain college systems.

  • To achieve an appropriate level of competence in the specialist areas of the other analysts, in as much that cover can be provided on a temporary basis during absence due to sickness and/or leave.


The salary for this role is paying up to £36,000 and offers a very comprehensive benefits package.
