One of the most established employers in West Yorkshire are seeking leadership from a professional contractor in order to support their software development process'.

Key purpose of role:

In this role you will be required to review the current Software Development and Support teams, focussing on the key areas of SAP, Banner, Technical Support, Web Design & Development services within the business, and advise the Service Group Leaders with a view ensuring the on going delivery of software development and support services to the customers.

You will be engaging with the various teams and stake holders identify, categorise and resolve issues. You will be working closely with Service Group Leaders and others where it is appropriate to asses current practices within the development team and formulate new best practices in the department the aim being to impact on software version management and release management.

You will asses and then compile reports on:
  • Development methodologies and change management in the software area
  • Software Testing
  • Current capability and capacity in the teams
  • Current workload and work plan of the teams
  • Through engaging with the stakeholders and the development teams you will report on current and future pipeline and the capacity to manage future pipeline


After an initial discovery phase of assessment and AS IS documentation you will highlight the issues as you perceive them and compile reports for submission to the Development manager and Senior IT management within the business.

The reports and assessments that you compile will contribute to the road map being laid for the department and how the resources will be used in the future. As such this role requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to manage the key variable in the role

Must have:
  • Extensive experience of Software Development and Delivery (Waterfall & SDLC)

  • Demonstrable ability to quickly build and maintain effective and productive working relationships in large complex organisations.

  • The ability to approach and manage multiple complex problems and provide effective solutions, with a view to achieving the most favourable outcomes.

  • You will be able to offset short term targets against the long term goals of the business.

  • The capability to relate to various elements of the business potential changes and the effect of those changes with relevancy to the parties concerned.

  • A proven track record showing your ability as an effective communicator, organiser, with a talent for effective management of staff and be able to establish strong working relationships with people at all levels of a large and complex organisation.

  • You will be experienced in the area of risk management and be able to identify risks to the services ability to deliver and be able to confidently describe the risks, as you perceive them, to the various stake holders.

  • You will be able give examples of times when you have identified risks and provided solutions.


Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review multiple Software Development & Support teams, establish lines of communication with all Managers. Review the teams work loads and practices.

  • Create a Development work plan, Development resource management model and a wider Development frame work and strategy, through working with the Service group leaders
