Now I know you have read a bazillion job ads looking for people to do “consulting” work that is really just glorified high-pressure sales. This job ad is not one of those.  We do things a little differently, and if you do too, please keep reading.

About the Opportunity

Right now there is a huge, unprecedented opportunity in website design and development services. With the explosion of mobile device use, practically all websites are going to need to be rebuilt, or at least converted, to stay competitive (by adapting to mobile devices). That is, literally, millions of new potential projects in the next 3-5 years.  Here are some statistics:

In 2013:

  • Mobile Internet Use is Up 78% (from last year alone).

  • 24% of ALL Internet Use is from Mobile Devices

  • Less than 5% of All Websites Are Mobile Friendly

  • Increasingly, a User’s First Visit to a Company’s Website is via Mobile

  • Users Overwhelmingly Prefer Websites that Cater to Mobile Devices

Few industries ever go through this sort of upheaval, and right now there is a land rush on and we want to stake our claim to the incredible amount of possible business that is out there. For the right person, the sky's the limit, in that with this position, you can truly choose to be as successful as you want to be. In our opinion, the challenge is not finding the opportunity, the challenge is picking which of the myriad of opportunities to go after.

About This Role

Part business development, part project management, the main intent of this role is to find, and land, projects, as well as see them through to completion, managing the project from start to finish.  You will guide the clients through the design and development process, being their point of contact as well as the manager of their project, working with them to make sure all of their goals for their project are met (if not exceeded).

This work role is contract, 100% remote, telecommuting from your home office (must be comfortable in a 100% telecommute environment). You will build your own book of business, but you will have help.  We will work with you, on a weekly basis, to hone your strategy so that it works both for you and for the clients you are after. We sell creativity as a product, and we want to leverage that to come up with some incredibly effective sales and marketing strategies.

Compensation is a flat 25% of the project total (15% for the business development piece, 10% for the project management piece).  And, you get paid when we get paid (sometimes, the same day). The way most projects work is with a 50% down payment to start, and the remainder at the end. Most projects last 2-4 weeks (depending on the scope of work, as well as how swift/urgent the client is). A typical project we complete is over $5000 (with some over $10,000). Stay-at-home parents are encouraged to apply. Hours are totally flexible and there are no sales quotas.  You are free to create as much opportunity for yourself as you want.

We are a responsive website design and development shop. We build more than websites, though. We build experiences. Our bread and butter is building custom, responsive websites (websites that adapt to any screen size, mobile to desktop), but we have the staff to be able to extend well beyond just that.

What makes us different, though, is that we take being a service business very seriously. Our intent with every project is to create a win/win/win situation. That is, the client wins, their customers win, and we win. About You

What we need is someone with this same energy, passionate about helping people, especially about helping people to be more successful online. Right now is a unique moment, with the explosion of mobile Internet use, lots and lots and lots of websites (if not most of them) are going to need to be rebuilt, and right now there is simply a ton of opportunity out there, a ton of opportunity with not only a great set of USPs, but also truly an opportunity to help clients reach more people in more effective ways.

Of course, we are not looking for just anybody. Not only are we looking for someone with a passion for service, but also enough technical aptitude to know the difference between CSS and JavaScript, between WordPress and Rackspace. Additionally, we want someone who:

  • Knows how the Internet works as a driver for business.

  • Understands the difference a good website experience makes (especially vs. a bad one).

  • Ideally has a lot of technical project management experience.  Project management experience of some kind is required.

  • Has an almost maniacal attention to detail.  Nothing gets by you, and you are successful because you pay attention and nail everything, including the things most other people miss.

  • Is not satisfied with “just good enough”.  You hold yourself to a (much) higher standard than most, and you enjoy being able to take on a project and do it all the way, seeing it all the way through to its impeccable completion.

  • Thrives on autonomy, and loves to be the driver of their own destiny.

  • Someone who looks at business development as a way to deliver value, not just take revenue.  Someone who loves to create win/win situations.

  • Someone, and this is a big one, comfortable pitching, and closing,  big-ticket items to businesses. Big-ticket sales can be a high-touch business, and we want someone who likes to spend a little time in order to craft something really special.

Do you already have a thriving branding/design/marketing (or other creative) business?  If so, we would love to be your responsive design and/or development production team.  We already work with several creative agencies, providing responsive design development services, services which can be completely white-labeled (in English, your clients don’t need to know we exist).  By working with us, you can offer your current, or new, clients responsive design/development services while still maintaining the client relationship(s) you already have.   We are happy to offer the same commission levels to partners, or in the case of white-label, you handle all of the client pricing/billing and we just work directly with you.  Potential partners are encouraged to contact us to discuss how 1123Interactive can help deliver value for your clients.
