Queen Mary University of London is seeking a talented Web Editor to join the in-house web team as the content specialist for the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The main responsibilities will be managing and editing content, liaising with internal clients, leading information architecture (IA) exercises and advising on industry best practice for a variety of student recruitment and research projects. The role is fast-paced and we are looking for someone who lives and breathes web content and is passionate about contributing to an outstanding user experience.

Skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in a Web Editor/Content Manager/IA role
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Excellent IA skillsExperience with card sorting exercises 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a web-related field
  • Working knowledge of HTML5
  • Experience of using a CMS for web content creation and participating in content workflow (preferably Percussion Rhythmyx)
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience of working in higher education preferred but not essential

Following recent restructuring, a new Directorate of Marketing & Communications has been established to help the organisation achieve ambitious recruitment goals and enhance its global profile. Under the guidance of a new Director of Marketing & Communications, the team is responsible for marketing and student recruitment, brand and identity, website, digital and social media, stakeholder relations, media relations, widening participation and internal engagement with staff and students.

The Web team is based at the Mile End campus in east London and our office hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

The post is part time (0.6 FTE) and for six months, with possible extension. Starting salary will be in the range £30,805 - £36,182 per annum (pro rata) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata), defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
