Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, you should have significant experience in mechanical design, capable of conceptual product design, clarification of key components of the system and breakdown of product to sub-assemblies. You will be a proficient user of 3D CAD software (preferably Solid Works) and have experience of marine engineering, electrical packaging and hardware enclosure design, knowledge of ingress protections ratings and sealing mechanisms, experience in electro-mechanical components and interfaces for rotating equipment. The ability to produce rugged and durable equipment designs using a sound knowledge of low volume manufacturing techniques is essential.

Summary of Responsibilities: * Develop concepts from 3D Solid models into working products. * Generation of innovative, practical ideas for improving the quality and productivity of the design process. * Produce detail manufacturing drawings. * Carry out appropriate design analysis and participate in design reviews, tests and development activities. * Liaison with component suppliers and sub-contractors. * Be able to provide accurate work plan estimates and achieve objectives * Ability to use stress analysis tools and techniques and apply to practical designs. * Ability to support design concepts with formal analysis and calculations * Plan, develop, and participate in experimentation and tests related to product development. * Generate and analyse test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. * Provide mentoring for other department and team members.

Essential requirements: * Degree-qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering. * A sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application to varied projects and domains * Proficient user of 3D CAD software. * Previously involved in the whole product life cycle and experience of new product introduction (NPI) * Able to demonstrate at interview that you have successfully taken products through from concept to completion and had a major hand in this process
